The Role

The Data Analyst will be a pivotal member of the Analytics Center of Excellence (ACoE), driving a culture of self-service analytics across the organization. This role involves creating compelling visualizations, designing scalable reporting templates, and training departmental teams to develop and maintain their own reports. The ideal candidate is both highly technical and creative, capable of translating complex data into actionable insights while serving as a mentor and resource for other teams. This person will lead by example, empowering departments with the skills and tools needed to independently harness data for decision-making.

The Data Analyst will not only deliver critical insights to drive organizational success but also elevate the analytics capabilities of every department through education and mentorship. By empowering teams with the tools and skills needed for self-service reporting, this role will help build a data-driven culture that ensures the organization thrives in a competitive and dynamic environment.

  • Data Analysis & Insights:
    • Analyze large datasets to uncover trends, correlations, and actionable insights that support business objectives.
    • Use statistical techniques to identify patterns in user behavior, donor contributions, and operational performance.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to answer critical business questions, ensuring analyses align with organizational goals.
  • Report and Dashboard Development:
    • Create visually engaging and interactive dashboards using Tableau or Power BI to communicate key metrics such as MAUs, donation trends, and segmentation performance.
    • Design scalable reporting frameworks and templates that departments can adapt to their specific needs.
    • Regularly refresh and optimize reports to incorporate new business requirements or data sources.
  • Training and Enablement:
    • Develop and deliver training programs for departmental teams on using analytics tools, building reports, and interpreting data effectively.
    • Serve as a mentor, providing hands-on guidance and sharing best practices to enhance analytical capabilities across the organization.
    • Create and maintain documentation, tutorials, and FAQs to support ongoing education efforts.
  • Data Governance and Quality:
    • Partner with the Data Architect and Governance Lead to ensure all reports adhere to data quality and governance standards.
    • Implement data validation checks within reports to flag inconsistencies or anomalies.
    • Advocate for a “single source of truth” approach, ensuring all analyses are based on consistent, validated data.
  • Collaboration and Creativity:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, and operations, to understand their data needs and create tailored solutions.
    • Brainstorm innovative ways to visualize and present data that go beyond standard charts and graphs.
    • Foster a culture of curiosity and exploration, encouraging teams to leverage analytics to ask better questions and find smarter answers.
  • Tool Optimization and Technical Support:
    • Serve as the internal expert on Tableau, Power BI, and other analytics tools, recommending optimizations and new features.
    • Troubleshoot technical issues in dashboards or reports, ensuring continuous accessibility and usability.
    • Stay current on emerging analytics technologies and methodologies, bringing innovative solutions to the organization.
  • Analytics Strategy Contribution:
    • Work closely with leadership to refine the Analytics Center of Excellence’s strategy and goals.
    • Contribute to the development of organization-wide KPIs and metrics, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
    • Advocate for data literacy initiatives to embed analytics into the organization’s culture.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a similar role, with a focus on enabling self-service analytics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proficient in Tableau, Power BI, or similar visualization tools, with a strong portfolio of interactive dashboards.
    • Advanced SQL skills for querying and transforming data.
    • Experience with data platforms such as Snowflake or BigQuery, with an understanding of data warehouse principles.
  • Teaching and Mentorship:
    • Demonstrated experience in training non-technical users to become proficient in analytics tools.
    • Strong ability to simplify complex technical concepts for a general audience.
    • Passion for sharing knowledge and fostering skill development in others.
  • Creativity and Design:
    • A keen eye for visualization design, ensuring reports are both informative and aesthetically pleasing.
    • Ability to think outside the box to deliver creative solutions to business problems.
  • Data Governance and Quality:
    • Familiarity with data governance best practices, including validation, access controls, and metadata management.
    • Strong attention to detail to ensure data accuracy in reports and dashboards.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders across departments.
    • Ability to act as a bridge between technical and non-technical teams, ensuring alignment on objectives and deliverables.
